The City of Seattle is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Web Producer in Seattle Information Technology's (Seattle IT) Office of Digital Engagement. Seattle IT provides technology leadership for the City enterprise, developing common standards, architectures, and business solutions; focused on developing scalable, sustainable solutions that enable departments to deliver City services more efficiently and effectively to constituents. Seattle IT harnesses the power of technology and telecommunications to facilitate City government serving Seattle's residents and businesses. Seattle IT is responsible for citywide technology governance, strategic planning and policy development, and programs that promote technology literacy and public access to government information. The City's consolidated IT operation is 700 strong providing professional technology services across City government and beyond. Job Responsibilities:
Program Overview
The Digital Services team is responsible for all public-facing City of Seattle web properties and plays a significant role in coordinating digital content strategy, user experience, and social media management throughout the City. The Digital Services unit includes three work teams, each led by a Team Lead or Supervisor who reports to the Digital Services Manager: Production, Usability & Design, and Development.
Position Overview
This position reports to the Digital Services Manager and will be a member of the Production team within Digital Services. This team manages the public website, blogs, and other web tools to enable departments to engage with the public. This position will focus on web production in the City's enterprise content management system, supporting the Seattle.gov Redesign project, additional department website migrations, and new requests as prioritized by the Production Team Lead and Manager.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Meet with City department staff to elicit and document business requirements.
- Support requests to create pages, components, and the navigation between them as assigned.
- Publish pages for departmental websites already in the CMS and troubleshoot CMS problems related to the workflow or publishing of pages or content.
- Participate in QA for new websites, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Respond to inquiries and routine web problems from departmental content owners.
- Document procedures for end users and administrators.
- Support digital tools or products commensurate with professional level as assigned.
- Employ flexibility while working within a team to accomplish shared tasks in an environment that requires professionalism to properly manage shifting and sometimes competing priorities.
- Perform various assigned tasks commensurate with the IT Professional C class level.
Qualifications
NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for the required qualifications.
- Experience in the successful delivery of web sites including requirements gathering, functional design, and delivery.
- Minimum three years of experience working with Content Management Systems to manage websites.
- Familiarity with the Ingeniux web Content Management System (CMS).
- Familiarity with the WordPress web Content Management System (CMS).
- Aptitude for learning new tools and technologies quickly.
- Familiar with user experience best practices and accessibility standards.
- Familiar with web privacy and security principles.
- Familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC) and software development methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
- Strong HTML and CSS skills.
- Innovative, resourceful, and reliable.
- Works well in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Self-directed, well-organized, and able to maintain high levels of production with limited supervisory oversight.
- Ability to multiple task and meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality and a sense of humor, use good judgment and discretion, and interact with a diverse workforce within the City and other agencies throughout the region.

Additional Information
Desired Qualifications:
- AA or Bachelors' degree in computer science, computer technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Three to five years' experience working with Content Management Systems to manage websites.
- Experience working as a web producer or web support in a city, county, or state government organization.
- Basic knowledge of City structure and major issues involving the City.
