Applications are being accepted for the following vacancy on the Non-Teaching Professional staff of Hudson Valley Community College, 80 Vandenburgh Avenue, Troy, New York.

Education (Minimum Requirements):
Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field.
Employment Experience (Minimum Requirements):
Minimum of five years’ work experience in instructional design, educational technology or related field, including the administration of learning management systems.
Pertinent Other:
Working knowledge of current best practices in instructional design, online learning, teaching with technology, innovative teaching approaches and learning management systems (LMS). Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
Knowledge of Blackboard LMS and experience teaching online at the post-secondary level preferred.
Nature and Scope of Duties:
The Director of Distance Learning reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and performs the following duties:
• Assumes a leadership role in the oversight of current academic program offerings and in developing future plans to provide distant learning opportunities for various audiences.
• Recommends and monitors policies and procedures related to distance learning offerings.
• Promotes the use of distance learning with faculty and provides opportunities for training.
• Oversees and updates the curriculum used for the various trainings provided for online course design and effective pedagogy in online teaching and learning.
• Establishes venues for sharing information about distance learning issues and trends for faculty, department chairs, staff and administrators.
• Develops and oversees the college’s quality assurance process for online learning.
• Provides for necessary administrative support and coordination of services for students enrolled in distance learning.
• Coordinates the technical support for distance learning offerings.
• Provides for assessment and evaluation of the Distance Learning Program, as appropriate.
• Provides a leadership role for various distance learning advisory committees as appropriate.
• Represents the college’s Distance Learning Program to external groups and collaborates with other educational institutions and on projects and committees as appropriate.
• Acts as the liaison for SUNY activities and processes (i.e., Open SUNY, Institutional Readiness Process, etc.).
• Oversees student support and help desk, and resolves issues as needed.
• May assist faculty in transitioning course materials to distance learning modalities.
• Supervises, trains, and evaluates distance learning staff, and is responsible for making all personnel recommendations for the hiring of distance learning staff.
• Oversees the administration of online student and faculty satisfaction surveys.
• Directs and explores special projects and programs as assigned.
• Prepares departmental reports and participates in the preparation of institutional reports as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
