Kitsap Transit, in Bremerton, is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Washington State. Our administrative offices are located on the waterfront, near the marina and ferry terminal, with sweeping views of the mountains, city, and waterfront. Kitsap County offers an excellent quality of life, including a variety of educational and recreational opportunities. We are close to the water for boating and ferry rides; close to the mountains for climbing and skiing, and close to many pristine areas for camping, hiking, picnicking and sightseeing. Seattle's fine dining and top entertainment is just a 60-minute ferry ride away.
Kitsap Transit (KT), a Public Transportation Benefit Area Authority (PTBAA), located in Kitsap County, Washington was established by the voters in 1982. KT began providing public transportation services in early 1983. KT's ten-member (nine voting members plus one non-voting labor union representative) Board consists of the three Kitsap County commissioners, one Bremerton City council member, one Port Orchard council member, and mayors of the four incorporated cities in Kitsap County: Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Port Orchard and Poulsbo.
Kitsap Transit is an award-winning agency that has been recognized by federal and state agencies for innovative transportation programs. In February of 2011, the Natural Resources Defense Council's Smarter Cities project named Kitsap Transit as one of fifteen US metropolitan regional leaders in transportation innovation and smart transit. The agency's mission statement is:
To provide safe, reliable and efficient transportation choices that enhance the quality of life in Kitsap County.
