Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-Time
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor degree in Nursing or related field required. Minimum two years of Head Start, Early Childhood, or related field experience. Management experience in supervision and mentoring staff desired.
Must be able to stand, sit, bend and walk for periods of time to meet job requirements. The manager must have strong ability to be flexible, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple sites. Must have a physical and TB test, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance or have reliable transportation as job may require some travel that will be reimbursed based on OVEC's travel policy. All Head Start positions must clear and pass state criminal history records check and sex offender registry check prior to hire date and pass Child Abuse and Neglect state registry check (CAN) within 90 days of hire.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The manager is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, supervision and management of all Head Start health program operations. The manager will serve as a resource to the Health Specialists. The manager will ensure that the health operations adhere to all state laws, licensing regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, OVEC Policy and Procedures, and instructions from Director.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and utilize a variety of tracking and monitoring systems that indicate and demonstrate continuous compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements. Systems include face-to-face meetings; creation and maintenance of health and safety policies and procedures; development of forms and documents; and interpretation of Head Start specific computer tracking program reports and data systems.
- Serve as a liaison with the medical and dental community. Build relationships and collaborate with community partners, develop and maintain service contracts and MOAs.
- Develop job descriptions, interview, hire, train, manage and evaluate performance of members of the health team.
- Convene regular team meetings to assess performance and outcomes, problem-solve challenges and provide technical assistance.
- Organize and facilitate the Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) meeting two times a year and in partnership with community members and OVEC health team members.
- Ensure all staff adhere to job requirements and OVEC policies. Complete corrective action when needed on any performance issues.
- Present ongoing information to advisory boards, management/executive staff, Program Planning Committee and Policy Council.
- Participate in budget discussions and monitor expenses related to health or dental services.
- Maintain Training Records Information System (TRIS) certification, CPR Instructor certification and all requirements of education degree certification.
- Ensure the program follows Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) standards.
- Promote child abuse awareness among staff, parents, and the community.
- Additional duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION:
Annual contract with a maximum contract of 240 days. Salary based on rank and experience in accordance to OVEC's Head Start/Early Head Start Certified Employee Salary Schedule.
