Business Systems Manager - Aviation Maintenance
PURPOSE:
Lead, develop, manage and set strategic direction for the following teams: Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Business/Process Analysis and Training, Payroll and the Administrative team of the Aviation Maintenance (AVM) department. As a member of the Asset Management and Logistics leadership team, will work directly the Senior Manager of Asset Management and Logistics to ensure that operational goals are accomplished in a manner that optimizes the use of financial, physical and human resources in support of operational strategic objectives.

Leadership:
Provide leadership, management and direction to assigned work groups to include but not limited to, development and supervision of staff, performance evaluations and salary adjustments. Implement tools and metrics for progress, successes and opportunities for improvement. Foster a high-performance organization focused on cost containment, effective work practices and create a culture of respect, continuous improvement and accountability.
Hire and manage consultants and contractors, as required, to fulfill work functions and section goals.
Research and recommend best practices to Senior Management team focused on continuous improvement and moving the organization towards industry standard best practices.
Technological Solutions Implementation:
Work with Aviation Maintenance Senior Management Team to define strategic technology improvements for the department that fosters operational efficiency aligned with our focus on continuous improvement.
Partner and collaborate with Information & Communications Technology (ICT), IBM and/or other 3rd party vendors on all Maximo Enterprise system enhancements and integrations. Lead and oversee efforts to research solutions that will improve system performances and utilization to support business goals and objectives. Serve as lead for the department, partner with ICT to address operational issues that arise.
Research technical trends and best practices on life-cycle of systems and assets.
Lead Business/Process Development and Analysis for department-wide standard operating procedures (SOPs). Oversee the integrity of data and information recorded in Maximo to allow for an accurate representation of reality during analysis efforts. Develop business policies, procedures and reports on cost projections, budget justifications, and asset management efforts related to maintaining Airport systems and facilities. Provide recommended direction to Senior Management team on department metrics and/or methods for reporting and tracking progress on organizational goals and objectives.
Provide direction and oversight management of the Aviation Maintenance training program related to Maximo Enterprise and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of using the system. Oversee development and delivery of all training sessions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge and experience in a leadership, supervision, business, and customer relations. Knowledge of set policies to develop action plans, resolve problems and tracking progress on maintenance or improvement of assets (facilities, systems and equipment). Strong knowledge and experience in utilization and function of a CMMS as it relates to asset management within an airport or facilities maintenance operations environment. Knowledge and experience in various business systems and in integrating technological solutions or integrations to enhance business operations. Knowledge and experience of payroll processes and procedures. Strong knowledge and experience in leveraging business analytics and using system data to inform management about operational elements that are critical to making business decisions.
Must demonstrate exceptionally strong leadership and management skills, with problem solving and decision-making capabilities. Effective and demonstrated interpersonal skills enabling the ability to influence and facilitate organizational process and system changes and maintain a positive composure when working with both represented and non-represented employees, business partners and customers.
Strong written and oral communication skills focused on collaboration and team building, budget development, cost management and customer service. Must be well organized with strong project management skills. Effective and demonstrated strong presentational and meeting facilitation skills to drive continuous improvement discussions on systems and business process changes. Business and technologically savvy and possess strong analytical skills. Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
Requires a wide range of strategic, leadership, business, customer relations, financial, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities to successfully accomplish assigned responsibilities. Ability to make critical decisions involving large complex technical or financial transactions. Ability to pull together a team from various organizational capacities. Demonstrated ability in writing executive summaries, budget justifications, presentation content, business correspondence and procedural manuals to effectively relay information on progress of items being worked on or presenting a future case. Ability to think outside the box to challenge the norm. Ability to deliver clear direction to staff in moments of confusion and uncertainty. Ability to express and articulate system technical and functional concepts into business terms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Combination of education and experience demonstrating knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to:
- Bachelor’s degree Business, Technology, Logistics, Public Administration or related field;
- Five (5) years of experience leading and managing others within a complex organization, while conducting strategic planning, budgeting, staff development, performance management, and achieving and maintaining operational excellence;
- Experience in management of complex business system analysis, process re-engineering and data management;
- Experience in working closely with an ICT department on the development and deployment of business systems; and
- Experience with leveraging CMMSs and other technologies to increase customer service, maintenance productivity, and control operating costs. Experience with MS projects.
- For candidates without a Bachelor’s degree, thirteen (13) years of experience in lieu of the required five (5) and a Bachelor’s, may also be considered.
- Master’s degree in Business, Technology, Logistics, Logistics, Public Administration;
- Five (5) or more years of experience in maintenance management and supervision in a large airport or other operation with comparable complexity of facilities, functions, and systems;
- Five (5) years of experience in Financial or Business Management, Engineering, Labor Relations, or Human Resources in the public or private sector;
- International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) Certified Facilities Manager CFM accreditation.
