Educational Advocate
Puget Sound ESD seeks an Education Advocate to assist juveniles previously incarcerated in county detention centers or juvenile institutions to successfully transition back to community schools, vocational training, college, GED programs, or jobs. The position is based in Tacoma, Washington.
PSESD is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts, charter schools and state-approved private schools in Washington. Educational Service Districts, created by the legislature, are an essential regional delivery system for early learning and K-12 services in the state. Minimum Qualifications
- BA degree in Social Services, Juvenile Justice, Education or related field (AA/AAS degree in related field with progressively responsible job-related experience may substitute for BA)
- Work-related experience with incarcerated youth, youth on probation/parole, or youth in juvenile justice system
Preferred Qualifications
(Cover letter or resume should specifically address any experience meeting the preferred qualifications)
- Experience with vocational and education opportunities for adolescents
- Familiarity collaborating with community agencies
- Experience in case management and skill-building for at-risk youth
- Experience assisting incarcerated youth transition back to community-based K-12 education, vocation, or work programs
Position is based in Tacoma.
School year schedule: (8 hours a day; 191 days a year; 1,528 hours a year)
Salary: $23.47 - $27.22 per hour
