Basic Responsibilities:
Successfully learn, assist, or manage and perform duties in support of the District’s Accident Prevention Program in a safe and timely manner. Acts as a liaison (with the delegated authority of the Sr. Mgr., Safety and Line Training, Senior Safety Specialist, or Safety Specialist), with Federal, State and professional/technical/regulatory agencies and the public for the promotion of employee and public safety. Provides guidance on safety issues to District staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Safety Specialist
- Four (4) years of electric utility experience in a capacity where communication, customer service, and working with others is a primary function; AND
- Four (4) years’ experience performing customer service, project management, contract administration, or related duties in an electric utility related business.
Safety Specialist
- Two (2) years progressively more responsible experience providing safety-related training, inspection, and program development in the electric utility related business.
Senior Safety Specialist
- Eight (8) years of utility experience working directly in a safety-related field providing safety related training and inspection AND including at least two (2) years of experience with program development;
OR
- Eight (8) years’ experience as a Journeyman Lineman or Journeyman Substation Wireman AND including over a two-year period of time having served in a safety-related function (i.e. safety committee, safety chair, or related).
License or Certification:
- Washington State Driver’s License
