Position Summary: The Data Entry and Program Support position for the Native Women’s Wellness Program (NWWP) is responsible for ensuring, by working collaboratively with Tribal Navigators, that women with suspicious or abnormal screening results receive appropriate diagnostics follow-up and treatment in a timely manner. The position is responsible for entering screening and tracking forms and data from consortium tribes in the CAST data base. This ensures proper billing methods and fee schedules are adhered to within the guidelines of the program which is an intertribal project primarily funded by a Center for Disease Control (CDC) 5-year Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection grant. The position is located at the Intertribal Professional Center on the Squaxin Island Reservation near Shelton, WA.
Responsibilities:
- Develop positive and collaborative relationships with Tribal Navigators to assure that women with abnormal breast and cervical screenings are receiving necessary follow-up in a timely manner.
- Attend program meetings as directed to assist the NWWP Program Coordinator in facilitating solutions to any problem areas with providers to ensure appropriate timely referral and follow-up of women based on program protocols.
- Respond to inquiries and invoices from outside provider referrals to get all the necessary information to begin paperwork for purchase orders to ensure payment is made according to the set fee schedule and that payments are processed in a timely manner.
- Facilitate the timely, accurate, and complete reporting of patient data into the program tracking system.
- Assist providers or outreach workers in getting the necessary paper work into the DSHS office for the Breast and Cervical Treatment Act for patients screening as positive for breast or cervical cancer.
- Acts as liaison between the providers, vendors, clients and the clinics.
- Set up and maintain patient files.
- Other duties as assigned within the Native Women’s Wellness Program.
The Data Entry/Program Support, as an employee of the South Puget Intertribal Planning Agency, is expected to collaborate, engage, and work closely with all SPIPA programs to fully support the agency’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values in accordance with all agency directives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree with course work in medical terminology, or
- High School Diploma/GED with minimum of two (2) years’ work experience social/human services or general business performing data entry, billing, fee schedules with women’s health care issues; or
- Comparable combination of education, training, and professional work experiences.
- Documented experience in data entry. Strong computer skills with at least three years of experience using data collection software.
- Ability to work cross-culturally with Native American individuals and communities.
- Knowledge of rural health and social services issues and programs preferred.
- Excellent writing, organization, and oral communication skills required.
- Ability to travel throughout SPIPA consortium tribal areas and to attend other pertinent events, as needed.
- Must pass a background investigation including relevant criminal history, and a pre-employment drug test.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Abilities: Bending at the waist; sitting for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to read reports and data; lifting medium objects generally less than 20 pounds. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Occasional travel required to consortium tribe locations and to selected conferences and trainings.
Salary/Fringe Benefits: $17.99 to $20.06 per hour depending on qualifications (based on 28 hours weekly). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance and agency contribution to a retirement program.
