MEDIA PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER
High energy, full time position in the tourism industry. Position will require frequent long hours, travel, as well as working some nights and weekends. Skills needed: public speaking, media relations, marketing, excellent written communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, marketing, English, journalism or a related field preferred.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Responsible for management of media relations and day-to-day tasks that enhance a favorable image of the destination and bureau. Assist with local, state, regional, national and international publicity and public relations, while employing a number of strategic public relations tactics to generate earned media. Develop innovative short-term and long-term programs that develop and maintain relationships with local media as well as those around the world.
QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE: Excellent oral, written, proofreading, spelling and grammatical skills. Ability to work independently, quickly and under pressure. Excellent critical thinking skills. Computer savvy with a working knowledge of social media platforms and a willingness to learn new systems and techniques. Organizational skills and attentiveness to detail. Goal-oriented. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines. Ability to relate positively with coworkers, visitors and tourism industry partners. Team player with a positive attitude and a personal commitment to excellence and creativity. Frequent long hours, weekends and travel. Strong background in marketing and project management.
