Enterprise Solution Architect Description:
- The Enterprise Solution Architect (ESA) is a key representative of Architecture and Infrastructure (A&I), working directly with all departments within department.
- The ESA works with all teams to understand project timelines and project requirements; align projects to solutions, technologies, and standards; document solutions; and review implementations to validate the proper and timely implementation has been completed.
- The ESA approaches this work with a focus on execution, delivery, and total cost of ownership.
- Within A&I, the ESA performs a number of roles. Specifically, the ESA drives integration amongst A&I technical towers to drive the technical decisions related to project delivery; produce and document standards that can be supported across A&I; document standard solutions for publishing into the Service Catalog; assist with the timely refreshing of infrastructure; assist with reducing operational issues and improving environmental deficiencies; improve the speed of delivery of services from A&I.
The responsibilities of the ESA are:
- Document and update multi-year project roadmaps, in conjunction with ADM and A&I Teams.
- Provide high-level alignment of upcoming projects to standard technologies and solutions.
- Highlight key and impactful projects on the roadmap and communicate to A&I teams.
- Highlight key new technologies from the Roadmap and work with requesting group and Enterprise Architecture to obtain approvals for technologies in a timely manner.
- Work/ with A&I Management to identify possible resource and delivery constraints, based on documented Project Roadmap.
- Identify technical and/or process standards and/or issues that prevent or inhibit the use of Service Catalog offerings and/or automation of services (e.g. Cloud).
- Collaborate, across towers, to resolve items identified items.
- Support EA and consult with project teams on the selection of IT products and services.
- Work with A&I teams to understand documented standards.
- Document the architecture and detailed architecture for standard solutions, consulting with A&I teams, to be included in the Service Catalog.
- Communicate the Service Catalog offerings to all members of ICT.
- Consult with project requestors to identify when infrastructure projects should be initiated.
- Inform A&I teams about the start of projects, including a high-level summary of the project scope and technology.
- Consult with A&I project managers to prioritize projects.
- Lead the identification and documentation of infrastructure requirements by consulting with project leads and requesting teams.
- Apply known technical standards to guide solutions towards standard infrastructure offerings.
- Evaluate proposed infrastructure technologies and validate the use within the project.
- Consult with A&I teams to identify solutions for projects.
- Document the infrastructure architecture for projects.
- Present the proposed infrastructure architecture to A&I Teams; validates/modifies the architecture, as required, to obtain approval and support.
- Assist Server Architecture team in obtaining project estimates.
- Document the detailed configuration of architecture elements.
- Review updates regarding the build of infrastructure for projects.
- Modify project documentation, if required.
- Drive conclusion of requested infrastructure technology changes, if required.
- Consult with the requesting team to validate the build of the infrastructure for projects.
- Assist the Server Architecture team in planning server lease refreshes.
- Highlight technologies that prevent the ability to perform lease refreshes and attempt to resolve issues.
- Consuls with A&I teams to recommend modifications to the system architectures.
- Consult with the owning teams to improve operational delivery and costs for application environments.
- Update environment architecture documentation for any updates.
- Maintain infrastructure architecture documentation for applications.
- Inform operational teams of updates to the infrastructure architecture documentation.
- Assist with and support any SWAT activities to support application and environment availability.
Enterprise Solution Architect Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience required.
- Required to understand infrastructure architecture, including servers, SAN, networking, database and middleware (including on-premise as well as AWS and Azure Cloud environments).
- Experience with application and database development and methodologies.
- Able to coordinate many efforts and produce high-level plans.
- Able to facilitate meetings.
- Able to perform basic levels of financial and / or time analysis.
- Able to document complex ideas for presentations.
- Able to identify and apply standards and patterns to produce effective solutions.
- Able to formalize standards and applies these standards to create solutions.
- Able to conceptualize new ideas to improve performance or reduce costs.
- Critical thinker - thinks outside the box and asks tough questions.
- Drives for integration across all areas of organization.
Driving and Travel Requirements:
- May be required to drive a company car. A valid driver’s license is required as well as a clean driving record.
