Position Purpose This position is responsible for the supervision, management, and oversite for all aspects of the Evergreen environmental, health, and safety (EHS) program and staff. The incumbent works with EHS staff and other personnel on campus assigned to both safety and emergency management response roles, including building and fire safety, environmental compliance, hazardous materials and waste management, incident investigations and reporting, indoor air quality, and occupational safety. The incumbent takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in college efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. All employees are expected to support Evergreen’s commitment to diversity and to bring and support inclusion into the college environment.
Work is typically self-initiated and prioritized based on regulatory and business needs of the college. Specific
tasks/projects may be assigned by the Associate Vice President for Facilities Services either verbally or in writing.
Work is periodically checked to ensure goals and objectives are being met.
Perform employee evaluations, staff development, personnel management, workloads, job quality, planning,
scheduling, development, and management of budgets, purchasing, inventory control, reports, and productivity.
This is a full-time, overtime-exempt position on the Olympia Campus of The Evergreen State College. This
position is an “at-will” appointment, exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules and the Fair Labor
Standards Act overtime requirements.
Salary and Benefits: $6,054 – $7,266 per month of full-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and
vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life, and disability insurance package; and a
tuition waiver program.
