Assistant Editor
The Tri-City Herald, with the McClatchy Co., is looking for a newsroom leader with a strong editing and reporting background who is excited about our digital future. Management experience is required.
We’re looking for a journalist who can do it all -- coach writers and photographers, line edit and problem solve quickly and effectively, all while keeping a cool head.
We work in a hands-on, fast-paced digital-first news environment. Understanding digital tools (Chartbeat, CrowdTangle) and social media (Facebook, Twitter) is critical.
Good organizational, communication, customer service and time management skills are a must, as well as some experience with enterprise projects and public records requests. Video and sports experience also a plus.
The Tri-Cities is a medium-sized community of about 300,000 at the confluence of the Columbia, Yakima and Snake rivers, offering water sports, fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities.
If you have a passion for finding and telling local stories that make readers better understand their community and you’re in the Pacific Northwest, email a short introduction and resume to Editor Laurie Williams at lwilliams@tricityherald.com.
