Wage/Hours: $13.65-$15.95 Hour (2020) 
Program participants are in grades 1 through 5.  Each cohort will have up to 10 participants.  Two Instructional Recreation Aides will be assigned to each cohort and will alternate work schedules working Monday/Wednesday/Friday one week and Tuesday/Thursday the next (6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.).

Position Description:  Supervise, monitor, evaluate, and assess program participants.  Direct and participate in program activities to include:  assisting participants with online coursework, tracking assignments, setting up online meetings, arts/crafts, and physical activities. Strives to maintain a safe program environment.  (Activities associated with this program have been modified to incorporate social distancing.)

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school graduation/GED equivalent.
2. One year experience working with preschool/elementary age children in a structured program.
3. Experienced in setting up, & participating in, online meetings.
4. CPR and Basic First Aid Certification (able to obtain within an agreed/specified period).
5. Washington State Food Workers’ Card (able to obtain within an agreed/specified period).

Prefer: 
Experience working with children in a preschool, before/after school, instructional, or recreational program. Experience with Civic Rec. POS software (receipting).

Physical Requirements: 
Frequent walking, running, standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and moving/lifting up to 30 pounds. Occasionally transport/set-up equipment tables/chairs. Frequent interaction with children in physical activities.  The incumbent must be able to traverse uneven terrain as some activities will be conducted in an outdoor environment.

Terms of Employment: These positions have been established for the 2020-2021 school year. The program is self-funding. Participant enrollment must support program costs. Hours worked will be determined by program enrollment. Should the Steilacoom Historical School District move from online learning to onsite learning, the positions may be affected.

Those applicants whose qualifications most closely correspond to the Town’s needs may be selected to appear before an interview panel. Successful candidates must pass a credit check and background check.
