Design 115kV and 12kV substation projects.  Design includes site layout, grading, drainage, TESC, oil spill containment, underground conduit, vaults, support structures, bus assembly and fences.  Administer land-use and construction permit applications; represent PUD at permit hearings and in meetings with public permitting agencies.  Proficiency in applying codes and standards such as NESC, ASCE7, ASCE Guide for Design of Substation Structures, ACI, AISC, ANSI and WA State DOE Stormwater Management for Western WA.  Prepare project scope, detailed budgets, schedules, plans and cost estimates.  Prepare RFP's and review bids.  Inspect contractor work and perform contract management and associated project design coordination.



Engineer - Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering and Four (4) years directly related engineering experience and FE** or EIT; or 6 years related engineering experience OR Washington State Professional Engineer License (PE), or ability to obtain through reciprocity and Eight (8) years directly related engineering experience, four (4) of which are performed at an electric utility.


Professional Engineer - Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering, Six (6) years related engineering experience, with two (2) of those years as a Lead or Project Engineer and Washington State Professional Engineer License (PE), or ability to obtain through reciprocity OR Ten (10) years directly related engineering experience and Washington State Professional Engineer License (PE), or ability to obtain through reciprocity.


*Note: For the employee who has met the minimum entry education and experience requirements, the additional time required to be proficient in performing the job is six months to one year.

**Note: FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) Certification is recognized by the Washington State board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and is equivalent to an EIT (Engineer in Training).
